There is no shortage of business ideas. One can easily turn even the most "bizarre" thought into a magnificent business plan that would earn them more money than people would expect.
One also notes that there is no shortage of people who have great business ideas. I meet these people myself everyday and cannot help but marvel at their ingenuity.
Often times however (as the case always is?), these intelligent, creative and "dare to dream big" individuals never translate their thoughts into practice. Seldom do we see the great ideas that would have transformed Kenya, nay, the whole world, come to fruition.
This, of course, is not to say that there is something wrong with great ideas or the people having them. Truth be told, were it not for such people, we might as well have been stuck in prehistoric times.
We acknowledge the power of great dreams and great thinkers. We owe our modern world to them. We know very well that had they not conceived the noble ideas they did and shouldered the burden of seeing things work out as planned, our world would not be what we see today.
However, when one acquaints themselves with these great men and women, one thing is clear: they had big dreams but were intelligent and wise enough to start small.
And that is what those of us who want to go into business need to know, and do. Dream big but remember to start small.
There are these two popular sayings that should always keep you company. One is from the Baganda and it says: "That which ripens quickly, rots quickly." The other says: "A tree climber starts from the bottom."
Go on! Dream big!
